Outgoing Exchange Students

Why go on exchange?

Determining why you would like to go on an exchange is one of the most important things you can do to help narrow your focus. Are you interested in traveling and experiencing new food, cultures and ideas? Are you interested in making new friends, seeing the world from a new perspective, gaining independence? Perhaps you would like to build networks and contacts for your future career, study with a particular professor overseas, or take unique courses only offered at certain institutions.

By asking yourself these questions and prioritizing what is most important to you, you can begin to narrow your options to those schools which can assist you in achieving your goals.

angela-bong“Packing your bags to go abroad for a semester was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I have made international friends; learn to live in a different environment; join in the national celebrations of the UK. An opportunity that came once and I took it. I didn’t regret it and I doubt that you would too.”

“Completing an exchange IS a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will never be in a situation again where you are surrounded by students of your age from around the world with a shared goal: to travel and meet new people! Take advantage of being young and being able to travel the world. Make friends with as many people as possible, from as many different backgrounds as possible to enhance your world-views. Every culture brings its own set of unique customs for you to experience and share with others. You will never forget the friends and memories you make during your exchange!”

Michelle Boyd, Euromed School of Management, France

ben_sutin“I will never forget the friends I made and the experiences I had in India. From the classroom to the cricket pitch, from the Taj Mahal to the Himalayans, my BizX experience provided the perfect mixture between travel and education. I strongly recommend that all DeGroote students consider embarking on a BizX adventure and truly making the most of their MBA.”

marissa-wener“Going on exchange would definitely be the highlight of my time as an undergraduate student so far. I got to meet people from around the world and see things that I never could have imagined. Going on exchange made me more independent and taught me so much of the world that I never would have otherwise known. The best part is that I got to change up my routine and do something different. ”
